Dr. Gerlein received his degree in orthodontics and Masters of Medical Science (MMSc) at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. During his three years of specialty training at Harvard, Dr. Gerlein conducted research at Boston’s Children’s Hospital.

In addition, Dr. Gerlein holds a Masters of Science (MS) in oral biology and a certificate in periodontics from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, MI.

Dr. Gerlein is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Harvard Society for the Advancement of Orthodontics, and the District of Columbia Dental Society.

Born in Washington, Dr. Gerlein lives in Bethesda with his wife Cristina, and children Nicolas, Martin, and Sofia.

In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys golf, skiing, and gardening.
